Today's recipe is inspired by the Peace Garden Country, North Dakota. North Dakota is called the Peace Garden State considering the International Peace Garden straddles the boundary between North Dakota and Manitoba, Canada.

My Instant Pot version of hot beef sandwich is unique because you lot cook the roast and mashed potatoes in the same pot. For the roast beef and gravy:

  • 3 pounds beef chuck roast, trimmed of excess fat
  • 1 tsp kosher common salt
  • 1 tsp garlic powder

For the mashed potatoes:

  • 3 pounds Russet potatoes, peeled and cubed

  • 3/4 cup milk
  • 3 Tbsp butter
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • one/4 cup sour cream

For the sandwich:

  • 12 slices of white staff of life or Texas toast

  1. Season the beefiness: Pat the chuck roast with the table salt and garlic powder. Pour broth into Instant Pot and identify the chuck roast in the bottom of the pot.
